Day 4 of my JOGLE ride and with the hardest part behind me I’m so disappointed that I had to bail out today and admit defeat. After 23 very painful miles there were absolutely no signs that my knee was going to get any better and I know I made the right decision to call it quits. Gutted.

Instead of riding back down to Bewdley for Aaron to hand over driving duties to Kay, I only made to Wilpshire. On the plus side I did get to hang out with my nephew for 5 days on a fantastic road trip. A top top guy and a pleasure to spend some time with. Wouldn’t have made it as far as I did without him.

Day 3 of my JOGLE ride and today it was Lanark to Settle. No pun intended but finally settling into the ride and sore knee aside things are starting to look up.

And bang on midday I left Scotland and crossed the border back into England.

Day 2 of my JOGLE ride and Aviemore to Lanark today. Another tough day and struggling physically and mentally with the distances. Finished in the dark after delays navigating through Perth and over the Forth Road Bridge. On the plus side the A9 is now well and truly behind me.

The start of my 2019 JOGLE ride. Day 1 riding from John O’Groats to Aviemore. When we arrived last night the sleet was coming down horizontal. Fortunately this morning it was dry, but sooo cold, and the wind made for a brutal day on the bike.

If only I’d known what lay ahead. Been a few years since I’ve done this sort of mileage and describing the day as tough would be an understatement.

Lots of smiles and full of optimism before I set off with Aaron for our JOGLE adventure. A day to drive up there and I’m hoping 4 days to cycle back again. Then Aaron will hand over driving duties to Kay for the final 3 days down to Lands End.
