Final day of my Avaris eBike test and I’m calling today’s ride the Just Ride It test. The route was another hilly one, a 43 mile loop which took me to Tenbury, over Clee Hill and past Arley Station up to Shatterford. The purpose of the test was see how much life I could squeeze out of the battery.

I used the Avaris like a regular bike, only calling on the motor when I wanted it, and although I still had 1 bar remaining I when I got back I don’t think it would have taken many more miles before I drained it. Not bad though when you consider the terrain and how cold it was. By the time I reached Shatterford it was snowing up there.

So what’s the verdict? Well, after 92 miles miles over 3 days that included 7,163 ft of climbing and 5.5 hours of riding it gets a big thumbs up from me. And I’ve got say I was truly impressed with its performance over Clee Hill today.

Day 2 of my Avaris eBike test and today I used the bike in full assist mode over a rolling 29.5 mile loop. The purpose was to see how well the bike performs for someone new to cycling. Using the Avaris in full power mode for the entire ride made light work of every single climb, and at the end of the ride it still had 2 bars remaining. Quite impressed.

This week I’m going to put Kay’s new Avaris eBike through its paces and give it a thorough 3-day test – nice way to start the new year.

Today’s test was a hilly time trial around a familiar 20 mile loop with the purpose of seeing how fast the Avaris is. Surprisingly, to me at least, the Avaris trailed my regular road bike by more than 10 mins over the exact same course. That’ll be the 15.5 mph legal limit on the motor.
